WIXOM, Mich. – Jennifer Goulet, President and CEO of leading statewide arts and cultural advocacy organization, ArtServe Michigan, presented “Creative State MI: The Arts and Creativity as a Strategy for Michigan Communities” at Michigan Municipal League's (MML) Annual Convention “Tools of Placemaking” on Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Grand Hotel in Mackinac. The presentation focused on arts and creativity as a powerful asset for Michigan’s reinvention and its communities.
Goulet’s presentation demonstrated how capitalizing on arts and creativity can fuel innovation and growth in any community and be used across the state to attract talent and business, while contributing to jobs and spending to the Michigan economy. The session featured two leading initiatives as examples: the Washtenaw County Cultural Master Plan and Art Works: Creative Invention/Reinvention and A Collaborative Culture Economic Development Plan for Greater Lansing’s Urban Center.
The MML Annual Convention brings together world-class experts from public, business and nonprofit sectors, providing creative solutions for varying challenges and communities, ultimately pushing for a better Michigan.
